Kimberly Cunningham, CCS, CPC, CCDS-O

Kimberly is an instructor for the Certified Coder Boot Camp® programs. She instructs the Certified Coder Boot Camp®, Certified Coder Boot Camp® – Inpatient Version and the Evaluation and Management Boot Camp®. As a consultant for HCPro, Kimberly works with hospitals, medical practices and other healthcare providers on a wide range of coding-related issues with a particular focus on education.
Kimberly has been in the HIM field in various roles for over 12 years. She has extensive experience with education, auditing and management, and has worked to implement processes, policies and curriculum in her various roles. Prior to joining HCPro, she worked most recently for an industry leading large university health system as a Coding Compliance Manager, where her duties included education for providers, coders, and clinical documentation improvement. Kimberly was also responsible for any coding related audits and all compliance issues as they related to coding and documentation. She has extensive experience coding for hospital and facility services, as well as auditing for quality and reimbursement. Kimberly has also worked as an auditor on behalf of CMS and HHS. Kimberly is a speaker nationally, and in her local areas on various topics related to coding, auditing and clinical documentation improvement.
Kimberly is accredited as a Certified Coding Specialist by the American Health Information Management Association. She also is certified as a professional coder through the American Academy of Professional Coders. Kimberly also served as an exam reviewer for the Association for Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS) and holds the Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist – Outpatient credential. Kimberly holds an Associate of Arts degree and Diploma in Medical Coding and Billing from Harrisburg Area Community College.
