Dr. Akinbo is an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in hip and knee replacement surgery. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from the University of South Florida where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. He was recognized as a King O’Neal scholar. He then obtained his medical degree from Columbia University. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the historic Howard University where he served as the administrative chief resident during his final year of residency. He completed fellowship training in hip and knee replacement surgery at the world-renowned New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Aknbo is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, a fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and a member of the American Orthopaedic Assocation’s Emerging Leaders’ Program.
Dr. Akinbo is active in the orthopedic community and has been published in multiple peer reviewed journals, he serves as a peer reviewer for multiple Orthopedic surgery journals, on multiple orthopedic committees on the national level, and as an Associate Editor on the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Associate Editor Panel. He is the rising Chief of Orthopedics at Hays Medical Center.
