David Enevoldsen, CRCR

David Enevoldsen serves as an Associate Partner with Optum Advisory Services Provider Revenue Cycle Management Practice (formerly Advisory Board Consulting) and has been with the company for over 11 years. David works directly with partner health systems and medical groups to improve their overall revenue cycle performance. In this role, he focuses on revenue cycle process redesign, performance analytics, collections maximization, financial clearance, AR reduction, denials prevention and management, and documentation and coding integrity.
David has partnered with over 50+ hospitals and health systems varying in size, region, teaching status, and focus (pediatrics, cardiology) —including Advocate Aurora, Baptist Health, Centra Health, Children’s National, Deaconess Health System, Edward-Elmhurst, Intermountain Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, Mayo Clinic, McLeod Health, MedStar Georgetown, Northeast Georgia Health System, Renown Health, Ridgeview Medical Center, St. Luke’s Health System, Sutter Health, Tenet Healthcare, Tower Health, and UPMC Pinnacle. Physician Documentation Initiative
- Concluded an initiative hallmarked by data driven chart reviews and 175 one-on-one and group physician education sessions including CDI and coder support. The initiative demonstrated consistent improvement in documentation quality along with increases in case mix index (CMI), resulting in $12M in realized reimbursement improvement and a 10:1 ROI.
Inpatient CDI Specialist Review and Education
- Utilized a proven approach that included benchmarking of current performance, targeted record review of 500 claims, and follow-up review of identified opportunities and CDI Specialist education across six acute-care hospitals, and 2,200 providers resulting in $1M+ in net financial impact.
David holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University. Additionally, he holds a Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification from The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
