Live & Recorded Virtual Event

Overview

The CPT 2027 Code Set introduces 299 new codes, 74 revisions, and 80 deletions, representing significant updates across maternity services, sleep medicine, artificial intelligence (AI), cardiovascular procedures, radiology, hernia repair, and other specialty areas. These changes present important implications for hospital coders, CDI professionals, revenue integrity teams, and compliance personnel.

This session will provide a coder-focused review of the most impactful CPT 2027 updates, highlight documentation and coding risks, discuss anticipated outpatient payment and operational considerations, and walk attendees through real-world case studies designed to strengthen coding accuracy, compliance, and reimbursement readiness for January 1, 2027. Participants will leave with practical tools, education priorities, and implementation strategies to support a successful transition.

Session Objectives:

  1. Identify the most significant CPT 2027 code changes affecting hospital and outpatient coding workflows.
  2. Apply updated CPT reporting requirements through case-based coding scenarios involving maternity care, sleep medicine, AI-enabled services, cardiovascular procedures, radiology, and surgery.
  3. Recognize documentation improvement opportunities and common compliance risks associated with new and revised CPT codes.
  4. Evaluate the operational and reimbursement implications of CPT changes within hospital outpatient departments and revenue cycle workflows.
  5. Develop a practical education and implementation plan to support coding accuracy and organizational readiness for CPT 2027.
