Heather Sutton, MD, MEd, CPC, CCS, CDIP, CIRCC
After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Nevada, Reno, Heather first began her career as a high school science teacher in Fernley, NV, during which she earned a master’s degree in Education. It was during these years teaching the subjects that she was most passionate about that Heather made the decision to pursue a career in medicine. She attended medical school at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY and earned her Medical Degree in 2011, after which she entered a residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Augusta University in Augusta, GA. During residency her role in medicine continued to be shaped and in her 3rd year Heather decided to pursue a different avenue and entered the field of medical coding. Since that time, she has become certified with a CPC, CCS, CDIP, and CIRCC. Heather is the Supervisor of Coding University Programs at Renown Health. It is in her capacity as a medical coder that Heather feels that she can apply her education to its maximum potential doing the things she loves most: constantly learning new things every day in a field that is challenging and growing in exciting ways!
