NCHIMA | Transforming CDI Lessons Learned from Real Life Experiences – Lunch and Learn

Join Glenn Krauss as he shares lessons learned from real-life CDI experiences.

Virtual Event

Overview

The CDI profession has been in existence for ten years, formally recognized as a profession with more and more hospitals implementing and continuing to grow their programs in both inpatient and outpatient arena. Unfortunately, programs in most cases are slow to evolve to meet the changing requirements of documentation from both a quality of care and reimbursement perspective. Payers are continuing to hold the upper hand when it comes to reimbursement to providers, denying payment based on medical necessity, clinical validation and DRG downgrades. Most of these denials can be avoided through incorporating a different approach to CDI that embraces education and teachings of physicians on best practice standards and principles of documentation as an integral part of CDI versus relying upon transactional, repetitive, and reactionary queries that fail to change overall physician behavioral patterns of documentation. Attend this webinar presented by Glenn Krauss and Dr. Jacob Martin, veterans in the CDI profession, where they will share personal experiences in transforming current CDI processes to address continual physician documentation shortfalls that lead to unnecessary payment denials from payers. Attendees will gain a deep understanding of how to develop an effective roadmap to guide CDI transformation at one’s facility, migrating successfully away from relying upon queries as the mainstay and hallmark of CDI and implementing a true CDI engaging educational program for physicians that drive real meaningful measurable sustainable improvement in documentation quality and completeness. Several take away resources to utilize in planning and implementing an approach to CDI that incorporates proactive preemptive denials avoidance documentation going well beyond diagnosis capture will be shared with all attendees that can be immediately utilized at your facility to jumpstart a transformative CDI initiative starting with buy-in from hospital administrators including the CFO.
