This presentation will piggy back off of the Journal of AHIMA article being featured in the October issue – we will use this article as the basis of our visual presentation. In this article we discuss the importance of correctly coded data and all of its implications across 4 areas of Healthcare.
Felicia Thomas, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-I, CIC, CCDS
Felicia Thomas is a healthcare professional with over 20 years experience. She has worked on both the provider and payor side of healthcare. She is currently working in Audit and Compliance and truly believes that you need to audit thru the lens of education. Felicia is very active in her volunteer duties with AHIMA, having worked on the subgroups to updating the Standards of Ethical Coding, the ICD-10 yearly updates as well as participating in the Practice Council for Clinical Terminology and Classification. Most recently Felicia has started the Creative Healthcare Concepts – Inpatient Boot Camp, where she is training HIM professionals in the foundations and nuances of Inpatient coding and preparing them for certification.
Wahiyda Harding, MSA, RHIA, CCS
Wahiyda Harding, MSA, RHIA, CCS is a Health Information Management professional with over 20 years of diverse experience. Before transitioning into solely coding/auditing, Harding worked in various fields and positions within the industry like tumor registry, HMOs, HIM operations, Revenue Cycle, HIM director and education. Throughout my career I have always had a passion for empowering colleagues within the field and mentoring new HIM graduates. This passion remains close to my heart and this is something I push myself to do continuously; the growth of this job field depends on it.
