Overview

Everyday release of information staff members are faced with situations that often raise several questions. During this webinar releasing to law enforcement, releasing death records and what can be billed in those situations, per HIPAA guidelines, will be addressed. We will also review scenarios and what must be considered when determining whether a substantiated reportable breach has occurred.

Nancy Kussrow RHIA, CHPS, CCS

Nancy Kussrow, RHIA, CHPS, CCS is currently the Director of Health Information Management and Privacy Officer for Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital. She is a graduate of Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management. She has been in the field for over 29 years. The first 12 years of her career were in coding; one year at Pontiac Osteopathic as an Inpatient Coder/Utilization Review Coordinator and the following 11 years coding all services at Otsego Memorial. She also serves on the Kirtland OIS Department Advisory Board and is also a long-time member of AHIMA and MHIMA.
