LHIMA | IG and Responding to Legal Obligations

Health care organizations can be subject to investigations by State and federal regulators.

Health care organizations can be subject to investigations by State and federal regulators. Those organizations can also sue and be sued and can be asked to provide information and witnesses for litigation. These realities require HIM professionals to understand what happens when they are asked to undertake litigation-related tasks. This webinar will address:

  • What it means to be “in” a regulatory proceeding or litigation
  • How an organization should react
  • What might be required of an organization
  • How might HIM professionals become involved
  • What happens if something goes wrong

These bullet points give an overall framework to the possible roles of LHIMA members when called upon to implement an IG framework and assist their respective organizations.
