The upcoming North District Louisiana Health Information Management Association education meeting will provide valuable professional development opportunities focused on key areas impacting health information professionals today. Speakers will cover advocacy, emphasizing the importance of health information professionals’ voices in shaping healthcare policy and advancing the profession. Additional sessions will focus on data visualization and population health, highlighting how meaningful use of data supports improved decision-making, quality outcomes, and community health initiatives. These timely topics are designed to equip attendees with practical knowledge and skills to enhance their roles while earning continuing education credit.
Population health focuses on improving health outcomes for groups of people, rather than just individuals. Learn how to examine the many factors that influence health, identify the patterns and use the data to address the root causes of health issues. Population health aims to reduce disparities and improve overall well-being within communities.
Objectives:
By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of data visualization.
- Utilize best practices when visualizing population health data.
- Identify software that is frequently used in the public sector.
- List several databases and reports available on the Louisiana

Health Information Management (HIM) professionals can be an influence on legislative matters both at the National and State level. AHIMA has designed an annual training opportunity that can be used in both areas. This session will provide information regarding the current issues; discuss the experiences of advocating for those issues and the concrete results they can yield.
