Due to the situation we find ourselves in, we are unable to hold a face-to-face meeting this winter, but the HAHIMA Executive Board has been working hard to prepare a Virtual Meeting.

Navigating in the New World with Telemedicine after Covid-19

  • The overall evolution of telemedicine and telehealth.
  • How has the coronavirus response impacted the ability of providers to leverage telemedicine and telehealth?
  • What did telemedicine utilization look like before the pandemic and what does it look like now?
  • What will the digital health landscape look like in 10 years, and how can an organization prepare for it?

Nora Belcher is the Executive Director of the Texas e-Health Alliance, a non-profit advocacy group that she started in 2009 to give health information technology stakeholders a voice in public policy.  The Texas e-Health Alliance serves as the state’s leading advocate, from local communities to the national level, for the use of information technology to improve the health care system for patients.    She is widely considered to be one of the state’s leading experts in digital health care, having worked on the issue for over 20 years in a variety of roles.  During the most recent Texas legislative session, Ms. Belcher led the passage of a number of bills related to telemedicine, telehealth and remote patient monitoring.   Ms. Belcher holds a bachelor’s degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin and owns a hardcover first edition of Game of Thrones.

ICD-10-PCS Root Operations Breaking Down Op Notes

  • Demonstrate the ability to access the ICD-10-PCS Coding Guidelines as well as the Root Operation definitions and Approach definitions.
  • Discuss the importance of translating surgical procedure documentation into PCS coding system terminology
  • Describe procedure codes, including the purpose of the individual characters
  • Briefly explain the different parts of an op note and the significance of reviewing the entire document
  • Locate the PCS tables and share the use of the tables in differentiating an “Excision” verses a “Resection”

Donna Folse, RN,BSN, CCDS is the National CDI Educator/Auditor for Conifer’s hospital CDI program. She is instrumental in developing CDI Education including CDI Bootcamp, Continuing Education lecture series and CDI Guidance Tip sheets, among other tasks.   She has over 10 years of experience in CDI. She is a registered nurse with over 30 years of clinical experience. She is an active member of ACDIS and is a member of the ACDIS CDI Educators Group.

Q – What date is the Virtual meeting?

A:  The Virtual meeting is available on-demand and you can view the presentations at your own convenience and your own pace.

Q – When can I access:

A:  Access is granted within 2 business days following receipt of payment.

Q – How do I access:

A:  You will receive an email from KnowledgeConnex providing detailed instructions to log in to the meeting and course. It may come from an individual with the extension @knowledgeconnex.com.  We encourage and remind you to monitor your SPAM and/or Junk mail. Should you not receive the email with access instructions, please feel free to follow the link provided in your Registration Receipt email (or whatever it’s called).

Login using: https://www.elearningconnex.com.  Your username is your email address and your password is your last name (unless you previously changed your password).  Password is case sensitive.

After you login, you will be taken to “My Courses”.

  • Under My Courses, you will see a link to your new online course.
  • Click on the link to your course.
  • Then go to the bottom of the page and you will see a heading “Course Content”.
  • Click on the course or session name under the heading Course Content.

Q – How long do I have access to the courses:

A:  You will have 60 days to complete the course after access has been granted.

Q – Do I have to complete all in one session:

A:  No, you do not have to finish in one setting.  You can continue where you left off next time you log on.

Q – When will I receive my CE Certificate:

A:  You will have access to the CE AFTER you click on EACH link under Course Content. You can access by going to “My Certificates”. When you click on a certificate, the certificate will either automatically download or will automatically appear. This will depend on your browser.

Q – Once I have paid for the courses, may I cancel:

A:  On demand webinars are non-refundable.
