Coding & Clinical Concepts in the Antimicrobial Resistance
Recorded: August 25, 2021
Allison Van Doren, RN, BSN, CCDS, CDIP, CRC and Kristy Evans, RHIT, CCS, CPC
CMS is sending a clear message with increasing reimbursement for those patients with antimicrobial resistance through DRG shifts and add-on payments. With the addition of 18 antimicrobial resistance codes qualifying as CC’s and 2 codes continuing to qualify as MCC’s in 2020, the message is being made abundantly clear. Through discussion of the current clinical issues, case examples with their coded data, and review of opportunities to query, our expert nurse and HIM professional will guide you through antimicrobial resistance through the lens of clinical documentation integrity and coding.

Fourth Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction and Its Implications for Coding
Recorded: September 1, 2021
Katherine Isbell, RHIA, CDIP, CCS
Would you like to learn the pathogenesis of acute myocardial infarctions, the cardiac anatomy involved, and the evolution of the Universal Definition used to classify them? We will discover all that PLUS the nomenclature and criteria used to diagnose ischemic heart disease. How does that correlate with the ICD-10-CM classification in Chapter 9? We’ll also take a peek into the future at a proposed new code in the classification to differentiate between infarction and ischemic injury. How does this impact clinical documentation and the query practice?

Exploring the Role of Information Governance in Pandemic Response
Recorded: September 8, 2021
Erin Head, MBA, RHIA, CHDA, CCS, CHTS-TR
The healthcare industry has been thrust into the spotlight as it moves through uncharted territory to address an onslaught of patients, constantly evolving requirements, and numerous unknowns to deliver safe working, testing, and patient-care environments. Providers across the globe have rallied admirably to meet evolving demands with commitment, speed, and agility. However, the pandemic is shining a light on major gaps in operations. New telehealth service models have enabled broader treatment options during stay-at-home orders, but not without security and productivity risks. Supply chains have been disrupted, and healthcare revenues continue to be hit hard, leading to widespread furloughs, layoffs, and restructurings. In this session, we’ll explore the critical role information governance plays in pandemic response along with best practices healthcare organizations can embrace to improve readiness across four key areas:
- Operational resilience to accelerate emergency care and testing
- Agile pandemic supply chains
- Compliant and connected telehealth and remote workers
- Transformative workspaces for current and post-pandemic operations
