Modifier Mix-Up: Are Discontinued Procedures Feeling Like a Juggling Act?
Jackie Craver, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P
There’s a time and a place for discounts! How are you applying CPT code modifiers for discontinued procedures? This session will take an in-depth look at using modifiers 52, 53, 73, and 74 for professional fee and OPPS reimbursements. These modifiers, that seem so simple to use, come with a lot of guidelines and rules. Payments are affected based on selecting the correct modifier when a procedures is reduced, unsuccessful, or discontinued. Often times coders struggle with applying the correct modifier based on what took place in or out of the OR room. Join me for this session so that you are not leaving money in the payors pocket!
