Overview

This seminar will provide HIM professionals with an understanding of the ins and outs of billing including bill types 111, 121, and 131. In addition, the seminar will provide an understanding of the requirements for the Medicare 2-Midnight and 3-day (72-hour) outpatient/inpatient requirements, split billing versus separate accounts, time frames for rebilling versus appeal of rejections and denials, and documentation requirements for certain high-dollar or high utilization procedures such as pacemakers, joint replacements and cataract surgery. Understand how coding may be able to solve certain billing issues.

Barbara J. Flynn, RHIA, CCS, AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer, is the Vice President for Health Information Management Services and Denial Management Services for the Florida Hospital Association Management Corporation (FHAMC). Barbara developed the Health Information Management Services for Florida Hospital Association (FHA) 25 years ago to provide much needed services to the hospitals in the state of Florida. Barbara developed service lines to assist member hospitals with HIM staffing, coding and billing compliance, interim management, educational programs, documentation improvement programs, and insurance and RAC denial appeals. These services are now provided nationwide. Barbara has been a frequent presenter over the last 30 years on Coding, Billing, Documentation Improvement and Compliance issues and is a well-known expert in this field.
