Alice Noblin, PhD, RHIA, CCS, PMP
Alice Noblin, PhD, RHIA, CCS, PMP is program director and associate professor for the health informatics and information management program at UCF. Her research interests include electronic health records, patient engagement in health IT and health literacy. She received a PhD in Public Affairs from UCF.
Brandy Ziesemer, MA, RHIA, CCS
Brandy Ziesemer is the health information program manager and a professor with Lake-Sumter State College in Central Florida. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator and a Certified Coding Specialist. She was an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer from 2011 through 2017. Brandy has co-authored a CPT coding book, contributed to a health informatics book and written a text on Medical Office Management and Technology. She is also the editor of PAHCOM’s six practice management manuals. She has presented several “Food for Thought” topics to physicians and practice managers over the past years on topics ranging from achieving performance measures in “value-based reimbursement models” to managing difficult employees and to strategies for leading projects such as implementing ICD-10-CM and EHRs. Prior to joining the LSSC faculty in 1997, she had extensive experience in management positions with managed care organizations in California and New Jersey, and consulting in physician practice management in Florida.
Julie Shay, MBA-HIN, RHIA
Julie A. Shay, MBA-HIN, RHIA is the Health Information Technology Program Director and professor for Santa Fe College. Shay advocates that “Trusted information is a valuable asset to any organization; being good stewards of this valuable asset will reap benefits such as better decision making that results in cost reduction, risk reduction and the promotion of quality care and business strategy.” Shay has 22 years industry and 14 years academia experience in healthcare business operations management experience in settings such as physician practice management, outpatient, inpatient settings to include managed care contracting, payer relations and operations expertise. Shay is an Approved AHIMA ICD10CM/PCS trainer. She has been a guest speaker for several national, statewide and local conferences. She is a member of North East Florida Health Information Management Association, Florida Health Information Management Association (FHIMA), and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She served as the Chair of the CEE’s (Council Excellence Education) Associate Education Coalition Committee (AEC), where she led and assisted the coalition in developing health information technology specialty curriculum tracks for colleges nationwide. Assisted with the development of workflow process in getting specialty tracks approved within academia/state environment. (2012-2014) Shay served as a member of the AHIMA (CEE) Council for Excellence Education (2013-2016) During 2015-2016, she served as a co-chair for the CEE Workforce Workgroup that focused on raising HIM Awareness. Shay has served as a member of the AHIMA HIMR Initiative. Shay has served as the FHIMA HIM Awareness Coordinator (2015-2017). Shay was the recipient of the 2016 AHIMA Educator Triumph Award and the 2016 FHIMA Educator Award (nominated/supported by fellow HIM colleagues and industry partners.)
