Learning Objectives:
- Learn about other “unknown primary” site codes based on body system that are more accurate than C80.9
- Be able to correctly apply the coding rules when a patient presents with multiple tumors (synchronous or metachronous) that are to be abstracted as a single primary.
- Gain a better understanding of how to navigate the heme manual to determine the correct primary site using hematopoietic scenarios.
- Understand the importance of using site-specific histology codes over NOS histology codes.
- Understand how to code a tumor that overlaps subsites when the tumor origin can or cannot be determined.
