Margaret M. (Maggie) Foley, PhD, RHIA, CCS
Associate Professor for Temple University’s HIM Program

Maggie has over 30 years of experience in various aspects of health information management and education.  She has held the position of Director of HIM for a large acute care teaching hospital and a psychiatric facility. Maggie has also served as a consultant for inpatient reimbursement and coding strategies. 

Maggie’s fulltime position is an Associate Professor for Temple University’s Health Information Management Program.  Maggie also serves as a Coding Educational Consultant for National Health Resources (NHR) on a part-time basis. 

Dr. Foley is truly Temple-made having earned her B.S. in Health Records Administration in 1984, an MBA in Health Administration in 1994, and a PhD in Public Health in 2005, all from Temple University.  Maggie is also an AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Approved Trainer.   

Maggie has also held various leadership positions in health information professional organizations at the national, state and local levels.   She recently served on the ACDIS.   

Kim Cunningham, CCS, CPC, CIC
Manager, Coding Compliance, Auditing and Education

Kim Cunningham is the Manager of Coding Compliance, Auditing and Education for UPMC Pinnacle.  She has been in HIM for over 10 years, and has her CCS, CPC and CIC credentials.  Her diverse background includes Inpatient and Outpatient Coding, Auditing and Management, and she has worked to implement internal auditing and education processes, policies and curriculum for the organizations she has worked with.  In her current role with UPMC Pinnacle, Kim is responsible for audit denials, CDI and Coding Education and Compliance, and works in conjunction with CDI management to facilitate physician education for documentation improvement.   

Kathy Wagner, RN, BSN, CCDS
Director, Clinical Documentation Program

Kathy Wagner is the System Director of Clinical Documentation for UPMC Pinnacle.  A graduate of Bloomsburg University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, Kathy worked as a cardiac telemetry nurse prior to moving into CDI. Kathy was one of the original CDI that started the program at Harrisburg Hospital in 2004. She transitioned into a manger role in 2015 and then into her current director position in 2017.  Kathy oversees the inpatient CDI program at the seven hospital sites within UPMC Pinnacle and is CCDS certified.
