Once again, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) is presenting compliance concerns and findings regarding post-acute care transfer (PACT) data in relation to discharge disposition. The discharge status for Medicare inpatient acute care encounters can impact the reimbursement received. A November 2019 report Medicare Improperly Paid Acute-Care Hospitals $54.4 Million for Inpatient Claims Subject to the Post-Acute-Care Transfer Policy brings to light the importance of compliance with this rule and which aspects of claims editing systems can be improved. HIM Coding professionals need to be aware of the compliance risks with PACT and take the appropriate steps, having checks and balances in place.
This webinar will help with achieving and maintaining compliance with PACT, and will address:
- What is PACT and why is it important for HIM and clincial documentation improvement (CDI) professionals;
- How PACT compliance and being an OIG target can help data and reimbursement accuracy;
- Learn and understand how best to obtain and maintain compliance with discharge status codes for inpatient acute care;
- Review case scenarios to help enhance knowledge and gain insight into steps and action to take.
