Overview
A 2021 data breach of a large healthcare network in the Northeast demonstrated the need for customized solutions. A panel-style discussion led by representatives from Jefferson Health, BakerHostetler Law Firm, and moderated by Ciox, a Datavant company, will explore the challenges and solutions implemented by Ciox Health in response. Attendees will gain insight into PHI vulnerabilities and how de-identified data can be accessed by “bad actors.” In addition, the multi-phased approach to thwart the attack will be highlighted, emphasizing lessons learned and the strengths of the Ciox-Jefferson Health partnership. The discussion will stress the importance of patient information security and privacy and new security protocols to remain HIPAA compliant. Collaboration and swift action minimized disruption and prioritized patient care. Ultimately, this session will highlight the importance of implementing proactive measures to protect patient information to minimize disruption and prioritize patient care during a cyber attack.
